STEP 0: THE JOURNEY BEGINS |
Ahhh! Studying abroad is definitely a dream. But how does it become reality? Where to start?
|
As a Lao Tzu said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” the journey of studying abroad ultimately began when I said “yes.” Truly, studying abroad is something that all students should attempt at, being that it enhances one’s educational experiences. However, much courage, dedication, and knowledge is definitely required when deciding to study abroad.
So what made me say yes?
The process of attempting to study abroad is a journey itself - engaging in extensive research regarding countries, schools, classes, programs, and experiences of peers can be quite tiring. In addition to everyday life, work, classes, and recreational activities, attempting to study abroad may seem like a daunting task.
Fear not, though, as there are countless gateways for one to start this initial step. If you're highly interested in studying abroad, I highly recommend researching:
Above all, take advantage of learning of others’ experiences. Try to meet and speak with those who have gone abroad - they’ve been there themselves and, often times, they’ll be beyond ecstatic to share their experiences and moments. Further, check out the blog sites of students who have studied abroad. The Freeman Scholars (Asia) and Johnson Scholars (Europe) have blog sites of their own where you can explore their experiences simply through a computer screen.
After doing some research, I finally settled on Korea University Business School. Being that it was a school of international rankings where numerous Shidler students attended, I decided to say yes to this opportunity.
