just an outpouring of gratitude
There are many people who have helped make this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity truly possible. Amid the barriers of travel, costs, and the idea of leaving home, studying abroad is definitely quite both an exciting yet daunting endeavor. Studying abroad and gaining international experience has always been a top goal of mine, and achieving this goal is certainly not an easy task. Not everyone has the chance to study abroad, so I’m beyond thankful for all those who have contributed to making my journey a reality.
To Mr. Freeman & The Freeman Foundation:
First and foremost, I send my fondest mahalo nui loa to the Freeman Foundation for their generous financial support of my travel. I am absolutely inspired by the foundation's commitments, and it encourages me to embark on this unique opportunity as well as duly embody the foundation's mission as a Freeman Scholar upon my return. Above all, being a scholar of the Freeman Foundation not only reassured my worries, but has served as a dose of ambitious motivation.
Although my exchange experience will be quite different from the norm, I still have lots to look forward to: expanding my professional network, meeting new friends, experiencing a world-class education, challenging myself in new and foreign environments, and, above all, growing exponentially in ways unknown. Mr. Freeman, thank you for your generous support in helping bring all of these unique opportunities to reality as I embark on this journey!
To the staff of the Shidler College of Business and Mānoa International Exchange:
What truly motivates me is knowing the countless support from so many of my peers, friends, family, and the staff of the Shidler College of Business and Mānoa International Exchange. The support from so many comforts me as I embark on this unprecedented journey of a lifetime.
There are many moving parts and details when planning for an exchange period, and in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, traveling abroad has become much more stressful, tedious, and overwhelming. I owe lots of appreciation to the staff of Shidler and MIX for helping me transition to a new chapter in my collegiate career and for making this journey possible despite the implications of COVID-19.
To my family, friends, and professional colleagues:
I thank each and every one of you for your warmest wishes as I departed for South Korea. Your encouragement to make the most of my time in a foreign country truly makes me want to share my fun experiences with you all through the upkeep of this blog. Though we’ll be apart for a few months, I’m excited to return to you all with lots of stories and goodies!
